backup Issue

Thread needs solution

When the weekly backup is performed I receive an error message like this:

Failed to exclusively access backup E:\Entire PC (HAWKINS-PC)_full_b4_s1_v1.tib during consolidation. Make sure the backup file is not opened in other applications.

It appears to perform the rest of of my backups onto my J drive which is a WD portable storage. The E drive actually goes to my printer.

Any suggestions of how to stop this problem?

I'm guessing the backup may have been originally created on the E: drive and the letters have since changed?  You would need to repoint the source to the J: drive.  Ideally, I'd leave the current backups where they are "as is" for posterity and in their own folder.  I'd create a new backup task and point it to the J: drive in it's own folder as well and use a new, unique name (just add something to the end to make it slightly different.  This should keep the error from occuring again.  Alternatively, set the J: drive back to E: and change E: to something else and that should work to.

If you did not specifically change drive letters, perhaps Windows did it on its own as Windows will automatically assign the next available letter if one is already in use (for instance if your main drive is J: but unplugged and you use another USB drive and it becomes J automatically or you set it as J: too.  Then, if you plug in the original , it would not be able to use J: and would take the next available letter which could be an earlier one than what it was originally).
