Backup to network: "Calculating the time remaining" - and nothing happens
Hello,
I have this problem since TrueImage 2014 and did not find a solution, so I'm trying it here again: I'm doing backups on a USB-drive and over a network connection (from Win7 to Win7). The problem: About every third backup to the network, TrueImage just tells me "Calculating the time remaining" - and just nothing happens. I waited for 12 hours: Nothing happened. I can't even stop the backup, clicking "Stop" just does nothing. I have to open the task manager, show processes from all users and then kill all processes which names are starting with "TrueImage ..." - only after that I can restart TrueImage and do the backup (which works then all the time right from the start). It doesn't happen when writing to USB. I guess it's not a problem with firewalls/anti-viruses/login credentials, because it works the other times (and after killing all processes and just trying it again). The network-connection is a 1GB-LAN and works otherwise like a charm.
Any idea what might be the problem?

Thanks for your reply. It worked for a while but now I got the problem again.
I looked at the logfiles but couldn't find any suspicious things:

Martho, please download a copy of the new Log File Viewer app that has been developed in the time since you last posted on this thread. This is a very much easier way of looking at all of the log files that might be involved in this intermittent issue.
I would also ask that you create an Acronis System Report and post that to the forum provided it is less than 20MB in size - you can find the utility to do this under Tools > More Tools in the main program GUI. This may also help to try to understand what else is happening for this problem.

I have seen this when backing up to a network connected NAS device where Acronis cannot make a connection to the network drive either due to a password error or connection difficulty. It seems to take forever for the Cannot Connect dialogue box to pop up/

2 troubleshooting options to try:
1) force the application to request new NAS credentials and test the connection before backing up: https://kb.acronis.com/node/58004/
2) if that doesn't help on its own. Try disabling VSS for the backup task and let it backup with the Acronis SNAPAPI backup method instead as VSS can be problematic in it's own right as a Windows service.
Disable VSS 3 ways (try the 1st mehtod first)
