Build 6559 - Requiring login - Why?

Thread needs solution

Exactly why is there no opt out for logging into Acronis when I open Acronis?

If I need support or updates I can always log into the website for that. The only thing I do is preform daily backups to my local drives.

How do I opt out of this requestor popping up every time I open Acronis?

Michael, you have only two options with regard to the login prompts, one - you sign-in with your Acronis Account credentials (email address and password), or you ignore it each time you start the product.

We were hoping that this might be addressed in this latest build 6559 but it seems that it hasn't been.

Signing in with your Acronis Account doesn't commit you to using any of the premium features of ATIH 2016 such as Cloud or Sync - it just mainly gives you notice of any available new updates and confirms your activation status for the product.

This is all good and well, but the advantages you have outlines should be available at any time, not when logged in. I was also hoping this would have been addressed on this latest update, but apparently Acronis is not listening to its users. There is absolutely no reason for users to be logged in unless they want to use services that require logging in, and agreeing to additional terms for those services

Just curious why Acronis is asking users to accept terms of use at this point. I have already created an account and have already done this when I created the master account. There is nothing I want to agree to, other than what I originally agreed to when I created my master account. I don't want access to any of the services that Acronis has to offer. Everything I'm doing is on my local machine, so I don't want. or need access to additional Acronis services.

So many problems with Acronis in the past. I'm really contemplating on moving to Macrium Reflect, and will decide when I'm presented with the next Acronis upgrade offer.

Michael,

I thought it was going to be an option in the update as well - still hoping for the next one.  Please submit feedback through the app so that Acronis continues to hear it from direct users.  We do pass it on, but still needs to come as a reported issue from more users so the folks at the top get the picture that it's not a liked item.

Personally though, the one click is not a deal-breaker for the reliabilty the product has provided and numerous times backups have saved my butt.  Macrium may be a possible solution, but there are people in the forums over there with their own set of issues too.  Don't think there is any perfect backup software out there and most that have issues are those who have upgraded through the ages (OS or from older Acornis versions where stuff may be lurcking in the registry).  I have a feeling, over time, those who jump from Acronis to Macrium, or Macrium to Acronis (or whatever) will find some of these issues pop up down the road as they also go through version upgrades and  OS upgrades that do the same with a product that once started "clean" and without problems too.

One advantage to signing in with your account is that you don't have to enter product keys when you do which can be nice.  If you're using the 30 day cloud trial, you also get to see how the cloud backups and dashboard work which some users may not otherwise get a chacne to test and realize that it could be useful tool for them (that's my guess why it's still there - an opprotunity to show the features and hope that some will like them and go with the Cloud upgrade).

At a minimum, maybe suggest a compromise in your feedback?  What if the login could be silenced for say 90 days and pop up only once a quarter if sileneced by the user.  Then it woldn't bug you all the time, but Acronis could still "advertise" the cloud every now and then without being too invasive.  Just a suggestion/recommendation, but regardless, please submit in app feedback directly to Acronis so they hear your opinion directly and have another logged reference for it that will actually be seen by the top Acronis folks at some point in time.
