Can I backup up image files from local to Cloud and re-image without Acronis Cloud? see more details pls.

Thread needs solution

Hi, I already pay for cloud support. I don't want to have to pay for another. I'm looking at Acronis because I simply can't deal with MS anymore, I don't know why after 10 versions or so they can't get it right...

Anyway, if I get Acronis TI 2106, image to my backup HDD, have that image backed up to my cloud is there any reason Acronis TI couldn't use that image to restore my system if I pull it back down from the cloud to a HDD? Or are there going to be 'special files' it's looking for that were created in addition to the image? Thanks

You should be fine in doing what you propose.

Is the cloud you pay for the Acronis Cloud?

Assuming the answer to the above is Yes, then you cannot backup a backup image from your HDD to the Cloud.

The process is to create a backup task which backs up directly to the Acronis Cloud then beyond that point, uploads a delta of any changes that occur to keep your cloud backup synchronised with your source data.

You can create a separate backup image to your local / internal / external or network drive.

Dallas,

Just curious, were you asking about using a cloud service other than Acronis?  I took it that you were.

Hi Ju, yes I use iDrive for my cloud storage. I don't have Acronis yet, once I get my system back up I'm going to get it, I can't deal with MS tools any longer. I was trying to decide if I really need the cloud version of Acronis. Since it sounds like I can do my local backups (I have lots of local storage because I've got 3 computers), then I could simply backup the image to the cloud service I use as double protection.

Dallas.

Thanks for confirming.  You should be fine in doing what you want to do.  I will advise though that when you need to recover a cloud stored backup you first download the backup file to a local storage location and then perform the recovery from that location.  This will help avoid problems that can occur when recovery is attempted directly from cloud based storage.
