Cannot Create Backup Image BitLocker Error
Good morning, I can't create a backup image in icronis true image 2019, when I select the disk it says that it has the bitlocker enabled, but the disk does not have the bitlocker enabled.
Erro : Unable to back up a locked volume encrypted with Bitlocker. Unlock the volume or turn off Bitlocker, and then try again.

Hi,
since today I have the same issue with Acronis TrueImage 2021 Build 39287.
I tried to run a backup job which I have run in the past for ~2 years flawlessly. Last successful run was end September 2022. The task images a BitLocker encrypted system drive and so far it never ran into an issue. Suddenly, the backup aborts after some ~30-50GB into the job, then restarts after 30 secs, runs for another 30-50 GB and so on.
Pausing BitLocker does not change anything. Turning BL off is not an option for me.
Any hints?

Roland, welcome to these public User Forums.
The best advice here is to check the logs for the failing backup task.
Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?
The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (New Version 2.3.1)
If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.
If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.
Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.
The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.
The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

You guys probably have already sorted this issue out and this might not be any use for you, but I had similar issues with Acronis True Image (for Western Digital) 2021 and I got it sorted out pretty much by accident.
Background: One of my Backup jobs (incremental) suddenly started to fail with an error "Unable to back up a locked volume encrypted with Bitlocker. Unlock the volume or turn off Bitlocker, and then try again".
That particular backup job does not include any Bitlocker enabled volumes. I do have one volume that has Bitlocker enabled, but like said, it’s not included in this failing job. That Bitlocked enabled volume is included in another backup job and that job has no problems whatsoever, once the volume is unlocked, of course.
Well, it turned out that there was one single corrupted file that caused the backup job to fail with that Bitlocker error. Once I got rid of the corrupted file backup job went through without problems. So, it did not really have anything to do with Bitlocker.

Jonne, thanks for sharing your experience. How did you identify the single corrupted file that caused this error?

I was wondering the same thing.

By pure accident. That particular disk is my storage disk for photos and videos, and I was copying some of the photos to a cloud storage when copy process paused on error with one of the photos. Once I deleted that particular photo both copying and backing up went through just fine.

Thanks Jonne.

I solved it a little bit differently. (Though the underlying issue seems to have been similar to Jonne's).
I ran Windows 10 x64's built-in repair options one-by-one, after which it worked.
- Open cmd.exe as admin (you can type it in the search field bottom left, then right-click-select from the start menu, "Run as Administrator")
- Type: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth (then press enter)
- Type: Chkdsk /r
- Type: sfc /scannow
The process can take a while (~20mins for chkdsk in my case) and will require a reboot.
I don't know which one of the above finally fixed it, but the repairs from Chkdsk were quite extensive, including repairing GPT headers and stuff (and some corrupted files).
Since it worked flawlessly again with both, Acronis and Macrium Reflect.
