Cannot open .tib files

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

True Image on Windows 10, I've had to rescue a friends Dell Hard Drive which had several disk errors meaning we were unable to boot for the hard drive I had set a Pin security key for him to use to log in.  However via USB I gained access to the hard drive and managed to drill down to his specific files Docs and Pictures I then saved them to another USB dive bought them over to my PC as .tib files now one has opened without any problems but the other two did not so I thought oh security so took control of the .tib files as an administrator but still if I double clicked on them in Explorer they won't open.

If I open True Image 2016 and follow the instructions there is no sign of an application to restore .tib files am I doing something really wrong here?

Many thanks in advance for any pointers.

Tim.

Do these tib files appear in the TI 2016 GUI when you open the application?  If so you can left click on them which should trigger a Recover selection at the bottom of the main GUI window.  If that is not the case then you should again select the the tib backup file by left click then click on the circle with the downward arrow symbol to the right of the file name and from the list run Validate.  If validation fails the file may be corrupt.

Hi there,

Excellent it was the validation bit I was missing now almost managed to rescue his files just one .tib file corrupted so may have to do that one again but now I understand where I was going wrong.

Enchantech, you are a star.

Again many thanks, Tim & Ann.
