Clone HD from file saved on cloud

Thread needs solution

I have previously used the Acronis 2015 to clone hard disks on my two disk PC.

I am considering the 2016 product because of the ability to backup to the cloud.

My question is;  can the file saved on the cloud be used to clone a hard disk?

William,

I believe that ATI 2016 will do what you want it to do, but technically, it is not a "clone".

A clone is a disk to disk operation.

What you would do is a disk mode "full partition list" backup, with the cloud as the destination.  Then, if you were to "restore" the image (file) from the cloud to a local hard drive, that hard drive would be "identical" to the drive that was the source for the backup.  If the source drive for the backup was a boot drive, the drive that was restored to would also be a boot drive.

William, the simple answer is yes - but...  you would need to download the cloud backup to a local drive in order to use it to restore the image to a new disk.

Just to clarify, Clone (in Acronis terms) is the direct copy of one disk drive contents to a second disk drive with no intermediate stage inbetween.

What you are proposing is Backup & Restore where you create a backup archive file in the Acronis Cloud and want to restore this at a later time to another disk drive, hence the need to download the archive file first (and validate that it downloaded with full integrity).
