Completely Lost!
I have Acronis 2015 on my Windows 7 PC and it works like a dream.
I bought Acronis 2016 for my sons new gaming PC which uses Windows 10 (64 bit)
I made a back up of the entire PC using the new very easy to use interface in ATI 2016 - no problem.
We made two more incremtneal back-ups using the simple interafce on the home page of ATI 2016 - no problem.
I was dirtecting Acronis to make the images on my seperate internal DATA drive (the OS is on an SSD)
Yesturday we needed to recover the entire PC.
I luanched ATI 2016 and when I tried to recover the PC it said that the recovery files where on the sane disk as the OS????
How so - I could see from Windows Explorer that the drive images where indeed on the seprate DATA drive (D)
So I switched ATI 2016 to Recover Disk using the tab button on the bottom left hand corner, I directed the various parameters to select the source to be the DATA drive containing the drive images and the destination to be my SSD drive.
ATI 2016 automatically selected three things to recover to OS, EFI and MBR - I had no choice there was no deselect boxes.
So I clicked recover and when my machine restarted there was no OS only the BIOS!!
I have tried the Bootlable Media recovery method but it is so complex when so many different parameters to select I'm still getting no OS present.
Acronis used to be so simple and idiot proof - now it has wipped my OS drive and I will have re-install Windows 10 from scratch and all my applications.
A total waste of £26 I'm afraid.
What on earth did I do wrong!!!!!!
Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Hi Bobbo,
I followed your instructions but I'm afraid it didn't work.
I can navigate the file structure as you asked so that parts ok.
When I go to recover my disks with the bootable media I get a lot more options than those presented in the guide you gave me a link for.
I get the following options to select,
Disk 1
NTFS (OS Disk) (C) Pri
MBR and Track 0
EFI System Partition Pri
NTFS (Recovery)
Disk 2
NTFS (DATA) (D)
MBR and track 0
Disk 2 is my data drive that contains the image file i am trying to recover to my C drive.
when I go to the next screen I'm promoted to select Patition Location, here I get another set of options
Recovery Partition Pri
EFI System Partition Pri
NTFS (OSDisk) (C)
Disk 2
NTFS (DATA) (D)
So complex!
ive noticed the menu step on the left hand side "Settings of Partition C" changes to "Settings of Partition 1-1" if I select EFI System Partion on the "What to recover" menu step, plus it adds an extra step "Settings of partition C". This is the same when selecting "MBR and Track 0" it adds an extra step on the menu on the left "MBR of Disk 1"
As I said I've used Acronis 2104 on my windows 7 machine for years without a single hiccup doing many many recoveries without needing a rescue disk.
Windows 10 and ATIH 2016 has me utterly baffled!
Anymore ideas to help?
Thanks for your time.

The recovery media options have been the same (for the most part) throughout 2013-2016. The Windows Application GUI is easier to use if you're not familiar with the bootable media recovery, but there lies the problem since you can't used the Windows version when Windows won't boot.
Apparently you have 2 disks in you computer. I'm going to assume that disk 1 is the main drive since it normally is (to be sure though, you can compare disk size or something to be certain). This makes sense since you say that disk 2 is your data drive with your images and disk 1 is the OS drive.
Assuming you have a good, full image, when you boot to your recovery media, you would select the "Restore" menu. You navigate to the desired .TIB file on your data drive which will be the first numbered sequence of a full backup or the last numbered sequence of an incremental backup. To keep things simple, let's start by using a full backup to test and see if that works for you. If it does, you have that to rely on and you can then try restoring from a subsequent incremental or differential (if you have them) after that to have a more recent version of your backup
Once you've selected the desired TIB file, since you are recovering to the same system, select the entire disk (there is one checkbox at the very top that will select the entire disk, which does the same thing as checking the boxes of all of the included partitions on that disk). These all exist on the original drive that was backed up and that's why they were included in the full disk backup - they are not things that Acronis created or added. It is normal to see EFI, MBR track 0, the main parition, and often times a recovery partion which is used by Window to repair itself or may be there from your computer manufacturer to restore the system to orignal factory settings. You are probably used to seeing legacy bios (CSM) entries, but UEFI and GPT is a bit different. Doesn't really matter for the purpose of this recovery, but probably somethign you want to read about a little bit just to get the idea of the differences.
Once you have selected everything to recover, you then choose the destination to recover to. This will be Disk 1 - please be aware that this will wipe whatever is on disk 1 and replace it with what is in your backup image. Ideally, if you had a spare drive, you could swap Drive 1 with a spare (just in case to preserve whatevers on the original disk), but if not and you're sure your backup image is good and your existing disk 1 is not booting this is the direction you need to go.
Push the entire disk image to disk 1 and let it do its thing. When it's done, power off, remove your bootable recovery media (in case your bios is set to automatially boot from USB or CD first). Then power up. If you have a good backup, your system should be exactly how it was when the image was created.

Hi Bobbo
It worked perfectly.
You just made a little boy (my son) very happy as his gaming machine is back as it was before it crashed!
I'm am very grateful to you for taking the time to reply and sort out our problem.
I now understand how Acronis works much better and it means we can rely on it going forward.
My son wants to say thank you very much Bobbo and so do I.
You sir are a star :-)
Kind regards
tht
