Deleting a backup from a chain

Thread needs solution

Hi

During a full backup there was not enough space on the target disk.  ATI prompted me to stop the backup or free up space and continue so I deleted the oldest backup in the chain from the target drive just through Windows Explorer.  Now each time a backup runs the validation gets hung up on there being no 'version 1' of the chain.

In previous versions of ATI you were able to delete the backup from the chain inside the application (as well as merging backups etc...) however I can't see that anywhere in 2016.  Please could someone tell me where I need to go to tell the application that version 1 of the chain has been deleted?

Thanks

Paul

An incremental backup contains one piece of the backup and that piece is is not duplicated anywhere else in the backup so your backkup chain is  missing whatever data was included in the incremental that was deleted.

You can attempt to run the manual validation and respond ignore to each prompt and the backup might become usable. I don't believe you will be successful, but if you are successful, understand whatever piece was deleted is still missing from you backup. It will take another full backup bebore whatever was missing gets included in another backup.

Hi

I have not removed an incremental backup but a full backup and all of its linked incrementals.  When I run a manual validation I am only presented with the option to browse to the location of the 'missing' files or cancel the validation.  I have several over full backups plus incrementals after that one so I'm not concerned about the data that was in it I just want to stop the automated process failing when it runs over night.  This was perfectly possible in ATI2012 so I'm hoping the functionality exists in 2016 somewhere.
