failed backup does not start automatically again at next PC boot

Thread needs solution

Hi there.

I've been looking for a solution to my issue several times for months now but no luck, I hope you can help.

Basically, I've updated from a previous verison of Acronis (think it was 2010) to Acronis 2016 after upgrading my system to Win10.

I tried to rebuild my scheduled backups and was expecting them to start after the expected date on the first system startup though, since then nothing happened. I always have to manually trigger the backup and I'm no good at remembering that frequently.

Despite having ticked the box to execute at system startup, it will never happen... not even a single error message, just nothing.

Acronis Scheduler2 Service seems to be running in my services though...

I read on the web that it might be worse erasing and starting over my backups settings though I honestly would like to avoir reconfiguring all the files and directories exclusions too.

Anyone would know how to help on that issue ?

cheers

Oh and, by the way, I do not have any Icon related to Acronis in my task bar. Not sure if relevant to the issue or not.

Aymeric, one of the known issues with scheduled backups to start following the system start is if Windows Fast Start is enabled, as that never actually performs a full system shutdown and therefore, no system startup is detected to trigger the scheduled backup.

Windows Fast Start puts the system into a hibernation state in order to allow it to resume running Windows very quickly.

Try changing one of your backups to run at a specific time instead of only on Startup and see if it runs automatically at that point.  If that works, then Windows Fast Start is the most likely issue.

With ATIH 2016, please ensure that you are running the latest build version #5671 as that includes a number of fixes for known issues like this, though some users say they still have issues related to Acronis and Windows Fast Start.  You can check on the Account page in the ATIH 2016 GUI where it will show the build version and activation status etc.

Hi Steve

many thanks for your fast answer.

I've just checked, the fast start option is disabled on my Win10.
I've got the build 6571 exactly as per your image.

I will try setting a backup at a time where my computer is running to see if it starts by itself too. I will update you with the result

Aymeric, the issue with missed backups not starting on next boot has been resolved in the release version of Acronis True Image 2017. You will see a notification when it becomes available, the program will let you know. Then please contact us regarding getting the fixed version and referencing this forum thread.

The root cause of the issue was in handling computer boot-up from hiberation state (Fast StartUp feature makes your computer to go into hibernation instead of complete shutdown). Acronis True Image 2017 will run backups, that were missed while computer was in hibernation and sleep/standby modes, on next startup.

Slava
