Failed to start creating the volume snapshot?

Thread needs solution

ATI Cloud, Build 6571

Windows 10 x64

This is rather disturbing. The notification email said "Backup task completed successfully", but the log summary had error messages in it.

1    True Image    6/30/2016 10:28:32 AM    Operation Critical Docs to Cloud started by schedule.

2    True Image    6/30/2016 10:28:43 AM    Operation: Backup

4    True Image    6/30/2016 10:28:46 AM    Operation: Consolidation

5    True Image    6/30/2016 10:28:46 AM    Priority changed to Low.

6    True Image    6/30/2016 10:34:15 AM    VSS retry: 1

7    True Image    6/30/2016 10:34:15 AM    Failed to start creating the volume snapshot.

8    True Image    6/30/2016 10:34:15 AM    VSS writer 'System Writer' with class ID 'E8132975-6F93-4464-A53E-1050253AE220' has failed to process the snapshot.

9    True Image    6/30/2016 10:34:15 AM    Unknown Win32 error

10    True Image    6/30/2016 10:37:52 AM

11    True Image    6/30/2016 10:38:17 AM

12    True Image    6/30/2016 10:38:26 AM    Operation has succeeded.

I don't know if I can trust the "Operation has succeeded" status.

This hasn't happened before, that I can remember, and it hasn't happened since.

Does anyone know what this means, and whether or not I should be concerned?

Jerry, this is an indication of a Microsoft VSS issue during the Cloud backup where I suspect from the 3 minute time gap between the error message and the final 'succeeded' message, that a VSS Retry was done and was able to continue / complete the snapshot processing.

If you have checked the other logs before / after this particular task operation and these show clean, then I would trust that all is OK.  The next Cloud backup would have picked up on any changes not already captured.

The Log File Viewer app can be used to check the logs if you haven't kept other notification emails.
