Full Disk Recovery - True Image 2016 Recovery hangs.

Thread needs solution

I have a full differential backup of a large non-system RAID5 disk on an external USB drive.  This is my first attempt to use the recover function.  I wish to recover the entire disk to a reconstructed RAID5 drive on my desktop.  True Image 2016 has hung several times now, after getting part way through the process.  The recovered files show up on the drive with what appears to be a CRC added to each file name (InvoicePayments2015.xls-AMUCN45K).  I assume that is temporary, until the recovery is complete, but it makes the recovered files useless to me.  So I have begun the recovery again after wiping the 15 hours of work previously accomplished.  This time, I am trying to recover a folder at a time.  Any thoughts on why recovery hangs?

The question about recovered files with additional information appended to the file names came up in the forum recently for another user and this was shown to be normal during the recovery process where the appended data was removed when the process completed.

The time for recovery is dependent on a number of factors including the size of the data involved, the speed of the external USB drive, the speed of the USB interface, the amount of system memory, CPU etc, etc.

If you are performing the recovery from within Windows, then I would recommend downloading a copy of the Log File Viewer app and taking a look at the log for the recovery task to see if any messages show why the process was slower than expected.
