Incremental or differential, delete older chain versions, make new full versions?
Now that I seem to have gotten over the problem with my backup list disappearing, and have started new back up schemes. I want to get started right and would much appreciated any help in the best way to set up the backup schemes.
I have started with Incremental because from what I read it is smaller and faster, but the down side being that it is more difficult to recover, and if one of the backups get currupt then you lose it all.
I have it set to create a full version after 5 incremental versions, and clean up to delete chains older than 7 days. Does this make sense? My concern is if I am deleting chains older than 7 days will I be currupting my backup so that I can't recover?
I have 4 internal drives C-1TB, D-1TB, E-2 TB, Y-2TB that I am backing up to 3 external drives. External Drives are O-5TB, N-5TB, M-2TB,. I need to keep backing up often, and but I don't want to run out of space.
Scheme is now incremental, create a full version after 5 incremental, and clean up chains older than 7 days
C-Full to O-5TB
Y-Drive to O-5TB
E-Drive to N-5TB
D-projects to N-5TB
Any help or suggestions much appreciated!

Steve, that page link doesn't work.
My question is about adding an existing incremental version-chain backup from a different external drive. When you choose the option of adding an existing backup, do you choose the first full backup of the chain or the last incremental?
Thanks for your advice.

Pick the last one. If it asks for others, keep pointing it to the one it asks for. When all is done, run a validation as well - if it asks for any particular version, point to those as they come up.
