Just updated to the latest and greatest--now, Acronis 2016 doesn't launch Windows 10

Thread needs solution

Windows 10

Latest and greatest Acronis True Image 2016   v.19.0.6589

I updated tonight and now the program will not open.  It appears on the taskbar, I can click on it, a window comes up asking for permission to open the program (I have tight controls on such things), the cursor wheel spins, and then-----nothing.

Does anyone have a solution??

Thanks

I took a flyer, uninstalled the program, re-installed it, and it loaded.  Go figure....

Anyway, it appears to be resolved.  The only thing I lost were the parameters for my backups that had been created, but I have been slowly added them back...

The parameters of the backups are contained in a data base which you can make a copy of before doing an uninstall. Cannot remember where it is located at the moment.

Backup configuration information is stored in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts where these are held in XML format text files with the file extension of .tib.tis  - these can be opened in Notepad and the task name is shown near the top of the file inside <display> my task name here </display> brackets.

If you have a backup that includes the above folder, then you could restore these files back to the Scripts folder but you will still need to edit them in the main GUI in order to set any required schedule details.

Thanks for the file location.  While it was wiped out during the re-install, I do have it on a backup .tib file.

Hi, Steve.

I have opened one of the new backup tasks that I created since the re-install.  As I see it, each backup task will have file and name will follow <display>.......

So I just copy each task that I want into the \scripts folder and then the program reads the content of that folder to know which tasks to list?

Thanks

Ken, yes, that is about the size of it.  There should be one .tib.tis XML configuration file per backup task, but you will also see additional .tis files for other activities, i.e. Validation tasks, ASZ creation or modification etc.  The latter ones of these can be safely discarded as they will be created automatically when needed by the main application.

Schedule information is not contained in the .tis task files, as this is stored separately by Acronis, so this has to be manually reconfigured.
