long time to backup - 14 DAYS !!!

Thread needs solution

I bought acronis TI 2015, upgraded to TI 2016 after registering, and started my 1st backup. After 2 1/2 days it shows 17% of my 78 Gb processed, thus whole backup is looking to take some 14 days. Is this normal ? . . .

I am running programme on a HP envy dv7 intel core i7 3rd gen. 8 Gb ram. i have set high priority. I posted this on forum for TI 2015 2 days ago - some 17 views but no replies. I badly need some feedback from experienced users to let me know what to expect, and if i am missing a trick to speed things up.

I am running windows 8.1

This is not normal, no idea what the issue is but if your progress has stopped I would think the bakcup has hung. In that case I would attempt to uninstall the app and reinstall.

If you are backing up to the cloud, you need to check your internet speed.

It doesn't sound like you have adequate upload bandwidth to support backup to the cloud. I would estimate your upload speed to be in the 0.5 to 1 Mbps range. You really need to invest in a large USB 3.0 HDD to store your backups.

thanks for replies - i overlooked the obvious fact that backup to cloud relied on my upload capacity - shudda backed up to ext hard drive. Now my problem is how do i stop the cloud backup to enable me to start again using my samsung 1 Tb usb3 ext hard drive ?

I found this thread because I've been sitting waiting for a backup to finish for an hour, with no apparent change in the Gb processed or time. Then it started again and quickly got to the end of the job.

My guess is it hit a directory full of thousands and thousands of small files, which have inherently slower network performance, and was just chewing through them. The lack of a "Working on file...." indicator with a file name meant I couldn't tell if there was activity or not.

peteseddon,

During the Cloud backup you will see or should see a Pause Button on the lower part of the GUI. You can choose pause and then wait a few minutes for all backup activity to stop. It is hard to tell when this occurs as cody above eludes to to a degree. Once backup activity stops you can create a new backup task to you external drive. Once that is finished you can continue and complete the Cloud backup or you can delete that backup as you desire.

And yes a progress indicator showing files being processed would be a nice feature!

I just re-ran the backup from scratch with the latest update and it seems to make a huge difference, it didn't pause at all this time, it blew through it in WAY less time. This is backing up to a NAS via gb ethernet. Nice job!!
