Microsoft Surface Pro 4

Thread needs solution

Hallo

---------------------

I use Acronis True Image for years, now version 2016th

Create each with Rescue Media Builder boot media (USB flash drive), with which I booted and so create my backups.

Now I have new a Microsoft Surface Pro 4. Booting succeed, but Acronis does not recognize the surface-SSD. What can I do?

Make certain your boot media is the latest version of the application which is build 6571,

Hello,

Peter, could you please clarify what build of Acronis True Image 2016 you use?

Best regards.

Okay, thank you.

With the build 6571 it will recognize the ssd, but neither the Microsoft touchcover yet the touchscreen works. What can I do?

Thanks once more for all helps!

Peter,

The boot media being Linux based does not have the necessary to support touchscreen or touchcover.  You will need to use your keyboard to work with the boot media.  See the attached link, even though it was directed to TI 2015 it applies to TI 2016 as well to the best of my knowledge.

On https://kb.acronis.com/content/48218  I can read " please navigate using your MS Surface's keyboard. " The Surface-Typecover is the MS Surface keyboard. But it don't work when I boot with Acronis...

Do I need a normal USB keyboard? That works... but then I have no options, connect a USB hard disk for backup, because the surface has only 1 USB port.

Are you within your 30 day support period?  If yes I would contact support.  I have read some posts where other use a USB hub to connect multiple devices, this is not ideal but may work.  If you try that I would recommend a self powered hub.

That is the way I've done it with surface pros and other touchscreen devices.  If you have a network device for backups, a hub with a USB ethernet port can also be useful.

or

will work

Thanks for all the support.
With the latest Acronis build (6571) and a USB hub (connecting USB keyboard an mouse, the Backup-Medium, the Boot-Medium) I was able to successfully create an image of the Surface Pro 4.

Best regards, Peter

Good to hear that, your welcome.
