Problem with scheduled backup

Thread needs solution

Hi

I've set up  a daily schedule for backup, but it do not run at all, the only thing happens is that next backup is pushed forward 24 hours.

If I try to run a manual backup I get a message the system is already running a backup, but it's not.

This is apparently a common problem as I can see it on the forum.

What I figured out is that if I restart the service AcrSch2Svc, the backup works again, 1 time.

So next time I want to run a new backup I need to restart this service.

This seems like a bug, will there be fix soon?

What happens if you delete the scheduled backup and create a new one?  Does it work or is it the same problem?

Did you install ATIH 2016 fresh, or was it an upgrade?  i'd recommend a reinstall if recreating a new backup has the same results.  Remove all Acronis products  from Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.  Then run ATIH 2015 cleanup tool and reboot after that.

Log into your Acronis account and be sure to download the latest installer.  When you run the installer, right click and use the "run as administrator" option, even if you are already logged in with an admin account.  This is somethign a lot of people don't do... it's not always necessary, but gives the application the most privileges possible to modify the files and services it needs to in order to function correctly.

After that, launch Acronis and license it.

Then download and install the ost current Acronis Media Add-on, then do the same with Universal Restore.

At that point, you should have a fresh, pristine Acronis install.  Set your backup and schedule again and see what happens.  If it doesn't work after that, I'd say somethign else is probably wrong - mabye the Volume Shady Copy Service.  Hopefully the reinstall will fix things though - it usually does.

The original install was a fresh one, but I didn't run as administrator.

So I removed ATIH 2016 from control panel, then I used the cleanup tool and followed the procedures.
Then I down loaded the software one more time, just in case, installed it as administrator and everything works just fine!

So I think it was "run as administrator" that was the case here!
I didn’t install the Acronis Media Add-on, as I don't know what that is?

But anyway it works just fine now!

Thanks for good feedbacks.

I am running Acronis True Image 2016 on Windows 10 and set the backup method to create a full version after every 5 incremental versions. So far the program created 2 full versions and 8 incremental versions in a row. I thought a full version would be created after the first 5 incremental versions but it did not happen. Any idea why?

Many thanks for your help.

So far I did a full and 2 incrementals, but I have same setup as you, so in a few days I will know more, how it turns out.

I'll try to update Thrusday or Friday this week as I should have another full after the 5 incrementals.

Hi again

Today I had two full images, and 5 incrementals, it means that it works just fine on my computer to make a full image after 5 incrementals.

Just wanted to let you know.

Hope you will find a way to solve, it. Good luck!

Visit that link and spend some time reviewing the details.  Your task is not working correctly so stop using it and create a new task and use my example GH-12 as to how to set up the task.  Editing the task after backups have been created will cause you grief, so my suggestion is get your settings correct BEFORE you start your first backup and make no further edits.  The link above explains in more detail.
