Reading Sector Error

Thread needs solution

Hello to everybody,

I am using ATI 2016 (Eval version).

I get systematiccaly a reading error 0x10C45A + 0x100155 .

This problem is documented in Acronis DB : "solution" : download the basic .exe file - start "install" and chose "repair"..but  with an evaluation version I have only this file  :"AcronisTrueImage2016_web.exe" which never shows a "repair" option just... desinstall !.

I have no access to the helpdesk (eval version) and no answer via my post on the support.

My final purpose is to buy it ..but without any bug!

Is anybody can help me ?

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards

D@ntes, welcome to these user forums.

Read sector errors indicate a disk drive problem, not a problem with the Acronis program.

I would recommend running a CHKDSK /F /R for each drive that you are referencing in your backup task for the Source and Destination.

Ditto to Steve's recommendation.

Also, when configuring your backup script, on the advanced tab, there is an "error handling" section.  You can choose to "ignore bad sectors" and/or run in silent mode.  If selected, backups should complete, but depending on where those bad sectors reside on the source disk, may cause trouble when the image is restored.  A backup of your data is only as good as the original data already is.

Hello Steve,

Thanks

I tried a chkdsk (no extension) on the source (SSD) and destinations (2 HDD)without any error.

I tried a "dummy" backup from some files from E: HDD -> F: HDD : no error

I will try chkdsk on SSD and wait and see.

I will revert asap

Hello Bobbo ,

Thanks for your precision.

I tried also this option but this is not a solution as you write, if you need a restore , you need a full and non "corrupted" image.

For the support , I have a mail from acronis with a ticket number for more than 3 days in my mailbox now

I will hope with the forum help to find a solution

D@ntes,

I just reread yoru reply to Steve that you ran chkdsk without extensions.  I would try again with the /F /R and run on not just the source drive, but also the destination to be sure.  Below is what the switches do:

/F                  Fixes errors on the disk.

/R                  Locates bad sectors and recovers readable information
(implies /F, when /scan not specified).

When contacting support, email is slow.  You can start a chat and should be able work with someone almost immediately when you do.

Your initial error (0x10C45A + 0x100155) is showing a sector error on at least one disc.  Here is another thread with similar errors and the report that using the /R switch did find errors that it attempted to recover and allowed the backup to continue.
