Recovery Media doesn't load

Thread needs solution

Created both standard recovery media and WinPE media (Build 5634) using DVD media and CD-R. Only displays the initial splash screen and choices (32 or 64Bit) selecting ether results in a black screen no matter how long I wait. Tried ATI 2014 Recovery media and it loads without any issues.

Next I replaced the DVD burner with a new unit. Burned both CD and DVD media. results still the same.

Any suggestions?

Problem solved, had to walk away from this for a few days. Took another shot at solving it today. BIOS needed a settings change.

Even though the Graphics Adapter was set to PCIE there is a second option named iGPU (Integrated Graphics Processor) which needed to be flipped from Enabled to Disabled. After saving the BIOS change I was able to boot from the recovery media.

Gald you were able to resolve your issue.

Spoke too soon, It boots and loads the graphics interface but as soon as I move the mouse to browse for the location of the image backup file the mouse freezes, tried with a second recovery disk and the results were the same.

Are you using a USB connected or wireless USB mouse?  You should make certain that your bios is the latest available.  Problems of this sort are often solved by bios update to the latest version available.

USB Mouse and keyboard.

I'll check the BIOS revision on this computer and a nearly identical system. This computer uses an ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe motherboad, the other computer (that has no problem with using the recovery media) has an ASUS P8Z68V Pro motherboard. Since the 2 computers sit next to each other I move the same USB keyboard and mouse from one to the other.

That being the case you might try booting to the recovery media without the mouse attached.  After the TI app launches plug in the mouse and wait a few moments for connection to occur, should be less than a minute.

Tried what you suggested, no luck. Then I tried my PS2 mouse port (USB to PS2 adaptor), still no luck mouse still frozen. Next I tried a different USB port with the same result.

Finally I booted from ATI 2014 recovery media (mouse connected to the original USBport) an it works, no hangup, can browse backups on my USB drive.

So somthing has changed between 2014 and 2016 recovery media that causes my mouse to freeze / lockup.

I would agree. I'm having issues with 2016 recovery media also though my topic didn't get any responses.

I had to fall back to 2013 recovery media.

These problems should be reported to Acronis Development Team.  You may do so using the in app Feedback feature found in the Help section on the left hand side of the application GI (open book icon).
