Retrieving Information Hang

Thread needs solution

Ok, I saw some other post about this, but it didn't answer my questions. I'm running Windows 10 with a 500GB Samsung SSD. I start a partition backup and Acronis hangs with "Retrieving Information....". I re-installed Acronis Home 2015 and it works fine. I read in one of the posts about hybrid drives, but I don't think this falls under that catagory. Another post states that the 2016 doesn't support SSDs. I find that hard to believe. What's up with this? Is there some type of major bug with this version?

Thanks.

Jason, 2016 definitely supports SSD's.  It did not support PCIE NVME SSD's until about a month ago though (like the Samsung 950 Pro).  Standard Sata SSD's are no problem and now, nether are PCIE NVME ones with the default bootable recovery media.

Not sure if you "upgraged" from 2015 to 2016 or how 2016 was installed.  Although upgrades are "supported" they can cause issues and I would recommend completely removing 2015 (control panel first - then run the cleanup tool - see the link below in this post).  After cleanup, reboot to update the registry.  Download the full installer for 2016 v6569 from your online account.  ONce downloaded, right click and "run as administraotr" to install with the highest privileges.

You'll then need to create a new backup task.  Please use a unique name and not one that was previously used (if the backups still live on the PC or somewhere that will be connected).  I'd also recommend that each backup task be written into it's own folder and not in a single folder (not sure how you do it now, but this will help in the long term too).
