Scheduled Backup failing to start
Hi
I have a weekly backup that is set to run then shutdown my PC. Recently this has started working intermittently, some weeks it runs fine and others (like this week) I wake up to find my PC online and no log in Acronis as to why its not performed its task.
When I open the app it shows the last run of the job was over a week ago so it's at least aware that its not run it and if I run it manually it runs fine.
I've had a read through the forums and I can't find anything which seems to help. My PC does not go to sleep so its not power related.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks
Paul

Hi
Seems I didnt get an email to say you replied.
I've used the log viewer tool to look at the schedule 2 log and this is what I can see for the time the backup needed to run (0015):

In the schedule manager this is the output of get list:
inst=den start=yes loc task=0-0 > get list

1-1 ~*TrueImageHomeNotify* /dummy /script:"009CEE3F-B347-420B-9E71-D829705AD6AB" /uuid:"009CEE3F-B347-420B-9E71-D829705AD6AB" /run_mode:?RunMode?
1-2 C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\TrueImageMonitor.exe /shutup
inst=den start=yes loc task=0-0 >
I'm unsure as to where those other tasks are but even then I dont see why it isnt running the first 2.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Paul

Paul, my next suggestion would be to run the Scheduler Manager tool again, but this time cleanout all the current scheduled entries by running 'task zap' - you will need to click on your backup Task in the main GUI then on Options to reconfigure the schedule again (i.e. set it back to running at 00:15).
I would not expect to see all the other 2-? tasks being shown in the Schedul2 log when you only have the one scheduled task, but I have also only seen the small snippet of the log you posted above.

Hi
I ran the task zap a few months back when I started seeing this issue and read a post on here about it so it looks like they have been left over somehow. I can send you a complete log file if that will help?
Thanks
Paul

Paul, you are welcome to post the complete log here or if you have such as Dropbox, post a link to the log file which would be better, but if these are left-over tasks and are not cleared by doing a 'task zap' then I would recommend doing a clean install as the next step.
Before doing a clean install, you can save your current task configuration by saving the contents of the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder which has XML .TIB.TIS files holding that configuration. This can be restored after reinstalling but you will lose your backup history which will be rebuilt after running the task(s).
To do the clean install, first uninstall normally via the Control Panel, then download the Acronis Cleanup Tool (link below) and run this as Administrator, with a restart to complete the action.
Finally, download the latest full installer from your Acronis account and run this from an Administrator level account.

Hi
Thanks for the advice. I have performed the re-install however it was far too warm in my office to leave my PC on over night this week and not be 100% sure it will actually shut down so I'll give it another go next week and report back.

Thanks for the update Paul, understand about the current heat-wave - very hot here in the UK too.

Hi
For a bunch of reasons I haven't been able to run my backups weekly as normal however it managed about 3 successful backups in a row but today it failed to run again.
Any ideas what I can try next as I don't want to have to keep re-installing every month :(

Paul, what happens if you simply reschedule your backups to run without setting to shutdown afterwards? Does that make any difference here?
Shutdown can be done in a number of different ways as needed, i.e. use a Post Command to issue shutdown /s or setup a Windows Task Scheduler entry to do the same at a time when all backups should have finished etc.
I am not seeing other users reporting any similar problems in the forums currently and don't have very much information to work on here to make any educated guesses as to why you are seeing a problem? Unfortunately this new forum software does not allow us to post attachments at present (as the older forum did), as an Acronis System Report might be helpful to try to dig a little deeper for this issue.
