Surface Book Windows 10 CLONE... what to do??

Thread needs solution

I realize that opening up a Surface Book is risky..

But what about just booting and running from the clone via USB in a disaster?

I have MicroSoft full warranty and tech support, but in a pinch I need to just use my clone..

Hello,

As far as I understood, you want to clone the system disk to an external USB disk and run your Surface Book from the external disk.

As per the User guide:

We recommend that you install the target (new) drive where you plan to use it and the source drive in another location, for
example, in an external USB enclosure. This is especially important for laptops.

Warning! If you clone a disk with Windows to an external USB hard drive, you will not be able to boot from it. Windows does
not support booting from external USB hard drives. Please clone to internal SSD or HDD instead.

Best regards.
