Switching from Windows 10 32bit to 64bit

Thread needs solution

I just bought True Image 2016 and I want to switch my OS from the 32bit version of windows 10 to the 64bit version. I have never done this before and I am completely new to this software. I was hoping someone could give me either a quick run down of how to do this or point me in the right direction of a tutorial. I read an article that told me this would be the best software to make sure I didn't lose anything in the switch. I have confirmed that my machine is capable of running the 64bit OS.

Hi Lisa Ellis,

Acronis True Image 2016 is not going to help the User, except to Backup their personal Documents.

To switch from Windows 10 32-Bit to Windows 10 64-Bit version, you need to reformat and install Windows 10 64-Bit Version. Then install the programs you had.

Why? Because many programs that you installed, installed Drivers for the 32-Bit operating system, not for the 64-Bit operating system. Many 32-Bit program do run in Windows 10 64-Bit operating system, but need to be reinstalled.

My advice, to make sure that you did not lose any documents, would be to buy the Acronis Disk Director Suite 2012.

This program allows you to create partitions on your existing Hard Drive. Nothing is written that your Documents need to exist in the operating system's partition. By creating a separate partition for your documents, you can safely reformat and reinstall the operating system, without losing your Documents, at your leisre.

However, you do need to make Backups off the Hard Drive onto another Hard Drive within the computer or outside of the Computer, to another computer or personal Storage Device.
