unable to complete backup

Thread needs solution

I am making complete backup (cloning) of a desktop pc on an usb 3 external drive. I did succesfully some backups but right now even if I see the backup in the destination path I obtain this error (in italian):

ultimo backup NON riuscito. IMPOSSIBILE EFFETTUARE L'ACCESSO ESCLUSIVO AL BACKUP. 

So the software try continuosly to repeat the backup...I tried to change with another external drive but it is the same. P.s. I'm an acronis user from years, no problems with previous versions.

Someone can provide a suggestion ?

Gianni, some suggestions and questions:

What version & build of Acronis True Image are you using? ATIH 2016 build 6571 is the latest version / build.

Please download a copy of the Log File Viewer app and check for what actual messages are being reported in the Service logs for your backup task?  You can post copies of the logs to the forum if you need help to understand them.

When you say your are making a complete backup (cloning) of your desktop PC to a USB 3 external drive.  Can I please confirm that you are creating a full backup image of your desktop PC system drive and not using the Acronis Clone Wizard to create an identical copy of the desktop PC disk drive on your USB 3 external drive.  A full backup image is a file with the extension of .TIB and you can store multiple of these files on your external drive.  
A clone is an identical copy of the source drive on the target drive and must be done using the Acronis offline bootable rescue media - there are no .TIB files for a clone copy.

Have you tried creating a new backup task to make a new backup image (.TIB) to your external drive?

Please note that you should not change external drives for a backup task as this can cause corruption of the Acronis database which holds information for the backup task and related disk drive where it is held.

Hi Steve !

I'm using the 6571 and making a full .tib backup (no incremental). I made a deinstallation and a reinstallation of the softwarte and the problem seem fixed. The only things was changed before the error was the upgrade to the newest version of Acronis. Probably something was corrupted in software upgrading ?
