Upgraded computer to Windows 10 and my scheduled backup is no longer functioning.

Thread needs solution

I originally had True Image 2014, but had upgraded to 2016 about a month ago.  Two weekends ago, I upgraded my computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  Since that time, my weekly backups are no longer occurring, but I also have other concerns about the effect the upgrade to Windows 10 may have to my ability to restore at a later date should I need to do that.

I have considered just reformatting my external drive and start with a clean slate and restart the process.  Does anybody have experience or suggestions with this type of scenario?

Thanks in advance for any help that might be out there.

Bobbie,

There are issues & conflicts when upgrading to Win 10 when using ATI2016.  The recommended sequence is to uninstall any/all versions of Acronis (this includes the Acronis secure zone, if installed, and startup recovery manager, if activated).  Then perform the Win 10 upgrade.  Validate, as best you can, that Win 10 is performing properly...no boot errors or issues, all peripherals are working properly, etc.  Then perform a clean install of ATI 2016.

As far as what you should do next...I recommend ATI2016 uninstall and reinstall.

The link above should help with the uninstall. It is written for ATI2015, but it also applies to ATI2016.

If your current backups are stored in Acronis secure zone, they can be moved to regular folders prior to removing the Acronis secure zone.  This would have to be done prior to the uninstall.

After the reinstall, you should activate Startup recovery manager.

With regard to being able to restore a previous backup...  After the reinstall, you could boot with rescue media, or F11, and then validate one of the previous backups. If the backup validates it would be worth keeping.

With the reinstall, you will need to create new backup tasks.

Please let us know if this works.
