Activity Monitoring Turned Off

Thread needs solution

How do I turn off the Acronis 2017 activity monitoring?  The folder is in Users/AllUsers/Acronis/ activity.  In less than a week, It generated over 4,400 1-3KB files.  This appears to be some kind of keystroke monitoring program. I want it turned off. Plus, how do I insure that no one can read these files?

Edward, welcome to these user forums.

I have just checked on my own computer and the same folder (C:\ProgramData\Acronis\Activity) (the location you gave is a shortcut from the path I have given) - my folder is empty.

I have ATIH 2017 build 6116 (New Generation) and currently have Acronis Active Protection turned off, plus in the main ATIH GUI, Settings page I have disabled the option to 'Participate in the Acronis Customer Experience Program' - either of these could save data in this folder path though I do not know for certain that this is the case.

What version of ATIH 2017 do you have, what build #?

I just checked mine. I have nine files whose names match the script/uuid of the nine ligitimate tasks I've created. The files were created when I created the tasks and have not been touched since.

I had 34K+ in mine!!!! They stopped back in January when I disabled Active Protection.  Total amount equaled only 8Mb, but that's a lot of files.

Hello All,

Files in the folder C:\Users\All Users\Acronis\Activity (C:\ProgramData\Acronis\Activity) are produced by Acronis Managed Machine Service Mini.

If you do not use "Online Dashboard" and "Files to notarize" features, you can safely stop and disable that service:

1) open Windows Start menu, type services.msc and press Enter on the keyboard

2) locate Acronis Managed Machine Service Mini on the right side of the window and double-click it

3) select "Disabled" from the "Startup type" drop-down menu

4) click Apply

5) click Stop button. A small window will appear with a progress bar.

6) if the window with the progress bar stays on the screen for several minutes and then an error appears saying that the service could not stop properly, then reboot the computer

7) if the window with the progress bar disappears on its own without any error message, then click OK button and close Services window

Then you can safely delete existing files in the folder Activity manually using Windows File Explorer. The software will not write any new files to that folder.

Regards,

Slava
