backup never finishes

Thread needs solution

Grinds my disk but I don't get any indication that it's finished.  A small portion of my files show up in the cloud.

I went to get the version # but About shows me a list of patents but no succinct version #.  I know this is not an actionable bug report.  More details later as I get more time.

Note: I've had Acronis True Image for several months and just noticed I'm not actually backing things up.

Made a new backup set, selected one file.  Said "connecting to Acronis cloud" for a long time.  Then said my backup was in progress and I could close Acronis.  I would expect a single file to only take a few seconds but it's saying "preparing data."

Ah ha, now I've got a green checkbox. That's encouraging.

Now I'm checking the cloud to see if I can see my backed up file but it's incredibly slow.  I will post again when I find it.

OK, found the one file.  Trying to delete the first big one as I suspect that one was just too huge (350gig or so).  A little hard to see what's going on due to slowness in both the client and the cloud.

Can't delete the big one, says it's blocked or something.

Trying to add another backup set and I apparently have inadventantly created some backup sets that I don't want.

Man, the cloud is so slow it's like swimming through molasses to try to figure out what's up.

But I think I'm getting.  Re-starting just trying to back up pictures.

The problem in deleting the big backup could be due to it being incomplete or if it is 'paused'.

I am not aware of there being a max size for cloud backup. I suggest you check with Acronis support - live chat would probably be the best way to do so in this instance.

The speed of the backup is limited by the upload speed imposed by your ISP. The upload speed is usually significantly slower than the download speed. In my case it is 100 Mbps v 2.2 Mbps.

Yeah, not sure what's happening with the bigger backup but it looks like the pictures-only backup is making progress. The big backup kept showing "scanning" and it was grinding the poopie out of my disk.  After the pictures completes in about 1/2 I'll study more.

My upload is about 5mps so the previous 350gB should have run in a little over a week I think.

Thanks.

I am making backup sets for smaller regions of the PC and those seem to be completing just fine.  I think backing up the whole PC was a non-starter because with modern drives (it ain't that modern, it's generic Gateway from 4 years ago) it simply can't handle the size.
