Bunch of problems

Thread needs solution

Hi all

I installed True Image 2017 build 5554, but suffer several problems:

1) At startup (clicking on the program icon), the program does nothing visible. After 17 about seconds -which is extremly long from an SSD- a dialogue appears which requires signing in to the Acronis account (which i have but don't want to use). Any chance to speed this up and/or bypass the recurring sign in procedure?

2) When i add a (new) backup, i always have to change the options the same way (for instance i don't want to exclude any files), althoug i selected "save as default" before. It seems these settings are not set as a real/global default for future backups. Is there no possibility to save settings globally, for every new backup?

3) More or less same as above: I have an extrnal drive where i save all my backups. Whenever i add a new backup, i have to select the destination drive again, which is a bit annoying. I'd like to set a "default" destination drive. Is this possible?

Thanks for any suggestions,

Genki

System: Windows 10 64bit, Core i7-2600, 16 GB RAM, SSD

Genki, welcome to these user forums.

I suspect that part of the delay when you start the ATIH 2017 program is related to the fact that you have not signed in with your Acronis account and it is trying to check in this area.  There isn't any way to stop the request to sign in as far as I am aware, but I do keep my own application signed in which does stop the nag to do so and I haven't seen any down sides of doing so.

For the exclusions settings, you should be able to use the 'save as default' option and this should 'stick' - I have done this myself though I have not tried removing all exclusions when doing this.  In all honesty, there is zero benefit to including such as the Windows page file, hibernation file and swap files in your backups if you are removing these from the list of exclusions - this will add significantly to the size of the backup and get automatically recreated by Windows following any restore.  There are different views on excluding the System Volume Information or not, this is where Windows stores restore point data so you may want to keep this in your backups, the same with some of the browser files being automatically excluded.

I know of no method of changing the default destination from being Acronis Cloud to your own specific backup drive.

For all of these items, I would recommend submitting Feedback using the in app tool so that Acronis hears what you are reporting about the product - these are valid user requests for the usability of the product.
