Can't restore To HP Laptop
I have ATI 2017 installed on 4 PCs, 1 Toshiba laptop (Windows 7), 2 Dell desktops (Windows 10) and an Hp laptop (HP Touchsmart 15634 TouchScreen Laptop) with Windows 8. I have finished doing the Entire PC Backup on all four PCs and tested a file/folder restore succesfully on all but the HP laptop. On the HP laptop, I can go through the process of selecting the file/folder I want to restore, either moving the original to see if the restore shows up or using browse to put the restore somewhere else. As soon as I select restore, the program returns to the backup screen but never starts the actual restore process. I deleted the backup, did a second one, tried a restore, same results. My backups are all on Western Digital external drives and I've tried two different drives, all with the same result. Obviously I wouldn't trust the ability to do a full restore and don't have a spare drive for the HP laptop to experiment with. Any known problems or suggestions?

Thanks - it worked to mount the drive and then copy the files back onto the laptop. Using the Recover PC option from the GUI seems like a pretty rare scenario and that it's more likely you'd have a problem where you needed to use the bootable rescue media. Two questions, 1) Is the Recover PC option likely to work OK for the laptop even if the Recover Files process didn't work, or I guess if it didn't, I could just use the rescue media and restore that way? 2) Do I need to make new rescue media having upgraded to ATI 2017? Thanks again for your help!

You should make new Rescue Media if you have not done so since upgrading to ATIH 2017, and this should be fine to be used for recovering both a disk / partitions backup image or your files & folders backup image.
It is recommended to test that you can boot from the Rescue Media a long time before you need to use it in ernest for a true emergency situation.
