E00040011: Error 0x40011: There is nothing to back up.

Thread needs solution

I do a daily "Files and Folders" backup of files from a public share on a NAS.  This has been working for months using ATI 2017 Build 8053 and for years on previous build and versions.  But today I started getting error message "E00040011: Error 0x40011: There is nothing to back up."  I finally noticed after a couple hours of retries, and I can guarantee there was something to back up since I had been accessing some of those files while ATI had been retrying the backup.

I decided to see what ATI thought it was supposed to back up.  When I did a "Change source" the mapped network drive did not show (even though Windows' File Explorer had no trouble seeing it).  I don't remember what I did to get it to show up, but I had to get Acronis the share's credentials (which are nonexistent for a public share).  I was then able to select the files to back up.  I manually started the backup and all went well ... but not the same as before.

In previous backups the log would show I000B03F0: Create Backup Archive From: and list all the source files.  And before that it would show a bunch of snapshot failure messages.  None of that appeared in the log for my successful backup.  (I don't miss the snapshot failure messages, but I feel very uncomfortable not seeing the list of source files.)  I browsed the created .tib file and saw the backup of I file I had changed earlier this morning so I know the backup worked.)

I'm not aware of any change between the last successful backup and the first failed backup  - either to Windows or to ATI.  Any idea what happened and how I can get the list of source files to be logged?

I'd attach copies of some logs showing what I'm talking about but I don't see how to do that.

Patrick, this does seem to be a credentials related issue with your backup of the NAS public share files, though why you are seeing the difference in the task log with nothing shown for the source files is another mystery?

The new forum software being used is why we cannot currently attach files etc - this is hoped to be remedied in the next version of the forum (along hopefully with many other niggles with such as the font colours / contrast etc).

The only way to share files currently is if you share such as a Dropbox link to the files (or any other cloud sharing service).
