External backup drive problem

Thread needs solution

The first time I need to restore my drive Acronis has let me down. The problem to my inexperienced eye is that Acronis believes my external backup drive to be a sub directory on the drive I'm trying to restore. My backup drive is designated G but for some reason in the backup file manager it's designated as C. The whole sorry tale is shown in the attached screen shots which end with the "Specify recover setting of Partition C" page and the next button greyed out.

Anybody know what has gone wrong here?

Allan, welcome to these User Forums.

Sorry but I am not able to read your screen image to see the details of the recovery panels you are showing.

One consideration here is to ensure that you are looking at the correct drives when booting from the Acronis Rescue Media as these can be different to that shown in Windows.

One way to check this would be to boot the Rescue Media without your external backup drive connected and check what drive letters you see, then try connecting the backup drive and see what letter that is given?
