Full backup to rotating identical USB 3.0 drives - fails after changing drive

Thread needs solution

This worked for many years on all of my systems as long as I used identical drives.  No exception to this using Full backup.  I have now replaced one of the computers and upgraded to 2017, as well as bought new USB 3.0 drives.  Since the install it has not worked properly.  I have created a new backup set, and same thing.  If I update the backup settings to the new location it works fine for the 2nd drive and not the first now???  If I keep updating, same result the other drive will stop working.  I don't have another 2017 that does rotating daily full backups to compare this problem with.

Data Pro, sorry but this is a known restriction with ATI since the introduction of a Database to track backup task activity.  The Database also records the unique ID of the destination backup drive, so regardless of your drives being identical, they will not match the ID recorded except for the drive used initially.

If you want to use different drives, then you will need to either have separate tasks, 1 per drive, or else do this in a different way.
