Hello -
Just installed True Image 2017 on a failing (bad monitor) laptop. I need to backup and move certain (not all) existing installed software/appliations to a replacement laptop. I'm not looking to image and replace the entire disk and operating system - I just want to migrate a few important pieces of installed software over. Old/existing system: Lenovo Edge (i3, 4GB RAM, Win 7). New systm not purchased yet, but will be ~comparable (~i5, 8 GB, Win 10, etc.).
Any general thoughts or direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Steve, please also see KB document: 19296: Acronis Products Cannot Be Used to Transfer Applications to Different System or Upgrade OS which confirms the advice already offered by Tuttle.
If you do a Google search for 'transfer installed programs' you will see a number of hits from companies offering products which claim to be able to do what you are asking though I have never tested any of these.
One is Transfer Programs like Adobe CS6, iTunes, Microsoft Office to New Computers for example.

Thanks for your reply, tuttle. Right before I purchased the s/w, I called in to the corporate sales support to inquire specifcally if what I wanted to do was possible and was told - 'sure, no problem'.
Right now, I am in the middle of doing a full disk backup, although I'm not sure if the the s/w is actuallly making an image, or if this is just simply backing up what I've already got backed up to an external HD. I have no idea what the ATI Rescue is - I purchased/downoaded the TT 2017 online and didn't see anything like that.
Right now, the system is stable. Only the monitor is toast, and I'm going through an external monitor.
I'll have to see what I've got when the BU is finished, and if I can recover any of my needed applications.
Thanks once again.
Thanks again for your help. When

Steve, if you are willing to have a go, changing a laptop display is not a too challenging task - I have done this on various laptops a number of times - the main thing is to try to either get hold of the hardware maintence manual for your laptop or else do a search for any YouTube videos of someone doing the same repair.
You should ensure that you first open the laptop display cover and find the actual part number of installed display so that you can then find a replacement display. I have found these on either eBay or on Amazon.

Thanks for the info, Steve. It's tough for me to mine all the relevant documents online. That's why I was hoping to get some advice from Acronis Sales. I was very clear in what I was looking for, and that request was related back to me, and so I thought we had good communication. Would have been nice to have your information $39.00 ago.
Again, thanks to you and tuttel or the prompt response.

I may look into that, Steve. Thanks again.

It depends upon how you asked the question and what they thought they were answering. Yes, it is possible to do a backup that contains all installed programs. A full disk mode backup, as I indicated, will contain the entire Windows system including installed applications. That is likely what they thought they were answering. It isn't possible to backup only installed applications without Windows.
