INSTALLING TO NON SYSTEM DISC

Thread needs solution

Is it possible to install to a non-system drive? I have perpetual 2017 and have tried downloading but automatically tries to install on C.

C is almost full, I want to back-up using Acronis and replace with a bigger drive.

Paul, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry, but no - ATI can only be installed to the default C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis location and no where else.

If you are wanting to backup your current OS drive and restore the backup to a bigger drive, then I would recommend creating the Acronis Rescue Media, booting from this to make a full disk backup of your C: drive to an external backup drive, then swapping out the current drive and replacing with the larger drive, followed by using the media to boot again, then recover the backup to the new drive.

See KB 58816: Acronis True Image 2017: Creating Acronis Bootable Media - and KB 59184: Acronis True Image 2017: How to create a WinPE-based bootable media for more information on creating the media.

Note: you need to identify what BIOS mode is used by your Windows OS - issuing msinfo32 in Windows 10 will show this in the output report.  You must boot the Acronis Rescue media using the same BIOS mode in order for the recovery to be successful.

See KB 59877: Acronis True Image: how to distinguish between UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes of Acronis Bootable Media - with reference to the above note.

Finally, please take a look at forum topic: [How to] recover an entire disk backup - and in particular the attached PDF document showing this process for recovery.
