[INTENDED BEHAVIOUR] First Login to Acronis will fail if using Fritzbox Guest WiFi

Thread needs solution

ATIH 2017 b5554

Scenario:
Install Acronis True Image for the first time.
Connect the client (notebook) to a Fritzbox "Guest access" WiFi

"Internetanwendungen beschränken: Nur Surfen und Mailen erlaubt, "Restrict internet access to browsing and mailing" is enabled

Symptoms:
Login in the ATIH software fails if the software is unregistered
Login to Acronis account on the webpage remains possible.
If the software is registered and has been already bound to an Acronis account it will still work.

If you connect the problematic client to LAN it will work instantly. Your KB article states a potential blocked port 443 but I doubt this is the reason as http / https traffic works using a browser.

This behaviour is reproducible for me.

There must be other ports involved, for the first login that are not documented in the KB.

Hello Karl,

The other ports are 44445 and 55556. As they are not used for surfing the web and mailing, the setting "Restrict internet access to browsing and mailing" must be blocking them.

There are certain actions that are performed just once or from time to time, that require these 2 ports to be opened as well.

I suppose that when you lift the restriction on internet access, the software will login successfully even after a clean installation.

Slava

Hello Slava,

thanks for your reply. You should consider to update the Acronis KB and in application message. Afaik these ports weren't stated anywhere and you are right the Fritzbox will block them as the setting will only alllow outgoing 80 tcp and 44 tcp (udp eventually on both ports).

Secondarily it would be great if you could limit the login procedure to 443 or 80. But that's too much to be asked perhaps.
