Need BIOS Boot Order/Priority explained please

Thread needs solution

About a week ago I had a problem, after a restore my desktop PC wouldn't boot, I thought it was a problem with TI but it was caused by the BIOS losing my SSD 'C' boot drive so I had to reboot twice before the SSD re-appeared so I could choose it in the BIOS and boot to it and for the moment it boots normally but my journey into the BIOS has me puzzled. In the graphic BIOS1 moving the UEFI TI recovery media drive from the right into the middle made no difference, it still booted to the TI recovery media drive. Neither of other two drives in the graphic BIOS1 are my SSD 'C' boot drive. In graphic BIOS2 my Pioneer BD drive is mentioned twice and the last drive mentioned is my external WD 200gb HDD. To be honest I can't understand any of it. I fear that unless I understand how the boot order/priority works I will be stuck the next time.

You have an Asus BIOS set to EZ Mode. In order to understand and fully control the boot process, you need to switch to Advanced Mode. Enter the BIOS and select Advanced Mode from the upper right Exit/Advanced Mode button.

Make the following changes:

Go to the Boot tab:

1. Set Fast Boot to Disabled.

2. Set Boot Logo Display to Disabled.

3. Set Option ROM Messages to Force BIOS.

4. Set Setup Mode to Advanced Mode.

5. Enter CSM:

     a. Set Launch CSM to Enabled.

     b. Set Boot Device Control to UEFI and Legacy.

     c. Set Boot from Storage Devices to Both, UEFI first.

     d. Set Boot from PCIe/PCI Expansion Devices to UEFI drivers first.

6. Set Secure Boot to Windows UEFI.

7. Scroll down and enter Hard Drive BBS Priorities:

     a. Enter Boot Option #1 and select the SSD with Windows. (This is the only important setting here. You can play with Boot Options #2 to #4 if you like. Try setting you DVD drive as Boot Option #2 if you like.)

8. Press ESC to leave Hard Drive BBS Priorities and scroll up to and enter Boot Option #1:

     a. Select Windows Boot Manager for your SSD drive.

The above are the most important BIOS settings.

Now when you want to boot from any recovery media hold down the F8 key until the one time boot override menu appears. You will see two enties for the DVD or USB device. One will be the device and the other will be UEFI followed by the device. Select the UEFI:Device Name entry to boot 64 bit media. Select the Device Name entry to boot 32 bit media.

After you do a restore you should enter the BIOS and reset items 7 and 8 above. They may change. This is especially true if you restore to a new disk.

Thank you Mustang for your advice. I shall slowly experiment with this.
