Recent Backups Very Small Compared to Original - Am I correct in thinking that........
......the recent backups are only backing up any changes to files? (I'm sure there's a proper term for this). Please excuse this old geezers ignorance!

Hi Steve - Thanks for your welcome and your reply. I'm doing 'Entire PC' backup and thanks for the nudge....'Incremental' was the term that evaded me in my original post. As it's early Acronis days for me I am currently happy sticking with the default settings until I am more familiar with the programme. Thanks again for your clear and very helpful information.
Regards
Bob

Bob, the things to watch out for when doing an 'Entire PC' backup (or Disks & Partitions) is not to do regular disk defragmentation as this will cause subsequent incremental backups to be much larger than they would be otherwise - this is because defragmentation moved data around at a sector level and Acronis looks at a sector level for changes since the previous full or incremental backup and will detect a large number of changes in this case.
If you have Windows 10 installed as your OS, then you should also watch for when MS are pushing out new updates such as the current scheduled Creators Update as this will create temporary install folders for the update which can be upto 5GB in size, plus when the Update is done, will leave behind a Windows.OLD folder for a short time (normally around 10 days) which is used to allow the Update to be rolled back, but again can be around 20GB in size.
