"Run at system startup with delay" problem.

Thread needs solution

Originally I had ATI_17 set on 2 pc's to run every 4 hours with the Run at system startup with delay box checked and set for a 5 minute delay.  This worked fine on my both computers.  Yesterday I decided to change my backup scheme to run to twice a day, leaving the Run at system startup with delay setting untouched.  This morning I fired up the 2 computers but neither ran the system startup backup.  Why not?

Thanks, Bill

Bill, I suspect that there is a misunderstanding at work here for this 'Run at system startup with delay' setting for the Schedule configuration.

In the ATIH 2017 User Guide: Scheduling > Advanced settings section, it states:

If the computer is switched off when the scheduled time comes, the operation won't be performed. You can force the missed operation to run at the next system startup. To do so, select the Run at the system startup with delay (in minutes) check box.

Additionally, you can set a time delay to start backup after the system startup. For example, to start backup 20 minutes after system startup, type 20 in the appropriate box.

This means that the setting is only applied at the next startup if a previous scheduled task execution was missed, which would have been the case when the task was run every 4 hours, but not the case when running twice per day.

That explains it, another case of the user not observing the golden rule:  RTFM!

If I had my way, I'd want ATI to run 4 backups daily, precisely at 6am, 10am, 2pm, and 6pm, which is exactly the way I had it set up back in the Norton Ghost days.  Oh well, maybe Acronis will set up more scheduling options in the future . . . ?

Thanks for the help Steve!

Bill, you are welcome.
