Won't make a new full backup, only too many incrementals

Thread needs solution

I have not been able to get TI 17 to take a second full backup using an incremental scheme.  I have configured it to take a full after 8 incrementals (see attachment).  But last night it just ran the 11th consecutive incremental.

Am I doing something wrong here?  Why won't it start a new version chain and take another full?    Any ideas?

ziggy29, have you made changes to your backup task since you first created it?  If so, then this could explain why you have 11 incremental backups when you have configured the task to make 8 then a new full backup?  Editing the task can reset the counter and start as if you were running a new task.

Please download the MVP Log Viewer (link below in my signature) and check what messages are shown in the log file for your backup task?  There may be some other clues in these log files.

Yes, thank you, that must be it.  To test I just ran three more backups in rapid succession, and on the third one it has started to take a full backup.  I did make some changes to the task a while back, I guess that was it.  Well, I learned something today -- and thanks again.

Glad to hear that it is working correctly when tested as you have done.  Thanks for the feedback on this.
