Acronis True Image 2018 Clean up old versions

Thread needs solution

I had way too many backups taking up huge amounts of space so deleted old backups using Windows Explorer.  I now discover that I should not have used Windows Explorer because the metadata does not get updated.

2 questions ...

1) How to rectify the current metadata

2) How to delete old backups in future (I cannot find any delete capability in ATI 2018)

I've read something about a "Management Console" but cannot find it.  Please advise.  Thank you.

Neil, welcome to these public User Forums.

You can delete unwanted backup files using Explorer, but after doing so, you should do a Validation for any tasks in the GUI that created the deleted files - this is how the Acronis database is reconciled when it pops up error messages for the deleted files for you to say to ignore or navigate to where a file may have been moved to.

Acronis have introduced an easier method for this in ATI 2019 with the new Backup cleanup option for tasks.

Thanks Steve, that worked.

At first it kept giving me the "can't find 1st item" error message even after I clicked ignore.  I just kept clicking the Ignore button every time it gave me the error message.  Perhaps it was looking for each of the backups i had deleted and there were a lot of them as I've been backing up every Saturday for a year. Eventually it stopped giving me the error message and it's now working.

When I delete any tib files now I will immediately run Validation afterwards.

Thanks for your help.

Neil, glad the suggestion worked for you, thank you for the feedback to help others.
