"BIOS beeps" from rescue media UI

Thread needs solution

I used ATI 2018 to create the Unix-based rescue media on a USB drive. But I can't use it. I can make a selection or two (it varies) but then the "shadows" that appear when I hover over buttons stop appearing, and any mouse click anywhere in the UI produces a sound that I'll call a BIOS beep - something I used to hear from small speakers that were soldered onto motherboards. Any keystroke also produces the beep. At that point I have to hold down the power button to do a hard PC reset.

PC is a 3-month-old HP laptop. Windows 10, fully updated (not that that should matter when booting from the USB drive into Unix).

This is my first time trying a Restore with ATI. I was hoping to use the rescue media to maximize my chances of a successful, bootable system image restore. And anyway, the rescue media should work.

TI 2018 has moved from a default rescue media of Linux based (as you call Unix) to a WinPE (Windows) environment.  As a result the Linux media may lack support for newer equipment.  I would recommend that you create the WinPE/RE media using the Media Builder Tool found in the Tools menu of the GUI or from the Windows Start button.  Choose the Simple method will allow creation of a WinRE that uses the Windows Recovery Environment that will support you machine using some of the most important drivers for your machine on either DVD/CD or USB media or as an ISO.

Yes, I meant Linux.

I built and booted from the WinPE environment. I restored my system image to my UEFI, secure-boot-enabled PC, and it worked! I'm as happy as a clam, as they say.

Thanks for your assistance.
