Bootloop upon recovery from an identical PC

Thread needs solution

Hi everyone.

I have some old PCs (HP Pro 3010 Microtower, VN969EA) running on WIN XP SP3 plus a spare one of the same type. I took backup of the C drive of each using Acronis True Image 2016 bootable DVD.

The problem is whenever I recover the backup of any of the PCs on the spare one (using the same Acronis True Image 2016 DVD), I get into an endless bootloop. This is happening although the spare PC seems to be identical to the running ones.

Any advice?

Tamer Anwar, welcome to these public User Forums.

As you are using Win XP SP3 for these old PC's, I would suspect that you will need to create and use Acronis Universal Restore media after doing the recovery of a backup to the spare PC.

Newer versions of Windows such as Win 10 are much better at handling changes of hardware (even when the machines are essentially the same) than older versions such as XP.

See KB 56637: Acronis True Image 2016: Restoring to Dissimilar Hardware with Acronis Universal Restore - for more details.
