Can not manage back files in File Explorer

Thread needs solution

I am unable to delete or transfer backup files on any of my disks on the computer that Acronis is operating. I get a message saying that I need Administrator permission, but I am the administrator. Curiously, if I take the disk to another computer I can delete and transfer the back up files no problem. At first I thought I had an Administrator problem on my computer, but Acronis files are the only files I cannot manage. I think this has occurred since I upgraded to 2018. I never had this problem with previous versions. I have gone to thinking that it is a problem with my Administrative permission to something very specific to Acronis on my main computer.

Is there a setting preventing management of backup files in Acronis 2018? Or can anyone assist with a solution? I have spent hours troubleshooting and applying fixes where Administrators have lost permissions, but like I said, it is just happening with Acronis back up files.

Thanks, Rick

Rick, this sounds very much like you have Acronis Active Protection AAP active / turned on for your computer and it is doing the job it is intended for, i.e. to protect Acronis files from being altered etc.

Look in your Windows system tray area for a blue shield icon with the letter 'A' and then right-click on this and take the option to Turn off AAP while you do any managing of your backup files, then turn it back on again when finished to protect them from any ransomware / malware attacks.

Thank you, Steve.

I wish my computer would have told me it was something other than I did not have Administrator privileges. Fortunately, I woke up in the middle of the night with the thought that maybe it was only Acronis files, and it was. Would have saved me hours of research over days.

Your quick response is much appreciated.
