Can't get Bootable USB to work

Thread needs solution

Windows 10, 64bit.  True Image 2018.

I create the Rescue media boot device on my USB just fine.  I then boot Windows and select to boot from the USB device.  I get a black screen with a blinking command prompt.  That's it.  It never moves forward beyond this point.  Anybody have any ideas on what I need to do to boot from the USB stick?

My main hard drive is flaky.  I want to boot to USB, make a backup of my C drive to my external drive, replace my C drive with my new one, then restore from my external drive to my new C drive.  I'm kind of stuck without being able to boot to my USB drive.

Thank you

Russell, welcome to these User Forums.

What size of USB drive are you using here?  It should be 32GB or less in size and must be formatted as FAT32.

There have been a few posts recently with similar issues where changing the USB stick or doing a full format (as opposed to a quick format) has helped resolve the issue.

The other factor is that you need to boot the USB media to match how your Windows OS boots, i.e. both Legacy boot or both UEFI boot.
