Clone Disk Wizard not very Wizardry
Anyone have any idea why the clone program is so slow to get going going.
When Choosing the disk you want to clone and it takes ages to move to the next stage and then the same amount of time again once you select the drive to clone to. In this case and most cases I do they SSD's I'm cloning to.
The more data on the drive the worse it is, it's just over the top big time.
Currently trying to clone a 500GB HDD disk that has about 400GB of data on it, the first stage has so far taken at least 20 minutes and not finished yet. Destination disk to be selected yet??
It seems to me it's gotten worse with the latest version updates. My current Acronis version 2018.

Using the it in Windows 10.
The SSD or other HDD may be connected either by USB 3 or SATA. Seems to make zero difference either which way.
I service computers and regulaly clone drives, but it's rasonably recently just taking way to long to get the damn thing started and cloning.

John, if you are using the new ATI 2018 Active Clone feature then this in turn uses the Windows VSS snapshot service for the clone action. The target drive should always be 'empty' for this to work best otherwise if ATI detects an existing OS it can force a restart into the standalone environment.
You can use the Acronis VSS Doctor tool to check that there are no issues with this service - link below.

I ran the tool on both computers I use for this process neither report any problem.
The Target drive's are usuall brand new, so yes Empty.
I believe there is something wrong with the Clone program not my computers or the way I do it at all.

John, first questions, did the live clone actually finish successfully and was the cloned drive OK when tested?
Next, if you don't already have it, please download the MVP Log Viewer tool (link below) and check the log for the clone action in case there are any clues shown there?

Drives usually clone fine, (except sometimes when there is a problem with the source).
Just tried to download Log viewer, but Avira popped up and said it was infected. Screen shot attached.

John, I have just downloaded the Log Viewer tool from the Community Tools KB page and scanned this with my own AV program plus uploaded it and had it scanned by Virus Total and no virus infections were found by any of 63 engines used?
