Delete a specific file or incremental/differential/backup set

Thread needs solution

How can I remove a specific file or backup set (incremental or differential) without removing the settings?

In EaseUS Todo Backup home (which my son uses this is very simple and clear with the image manager that gives the choice which one).

The tips for TI2018 mention something in the recovery selection, right click and chose a specific date that should give a delete option. Nothing of this on my pc.

Hope there's a simple way, please help?

Angel, as per my answer to the other topic you posted this question in, use the option to 'Clone settings' for your backup task. This will create a duplicate task holding all your configuration settings leaving you free to remove the old task and all files and use the duplicate task when you want to make another backup with the same settings.

Thank you for the answer. I don't know what went wrong when I posted my question as where it was posted. Fact for me is that I have troubles with the layout from most of the forums (not  only Acronis).

I will surely try following your tip as I'm using Acronis True Image more than 10 years with every year the latest version and since 2 years on 3 PC's. I had no problems till now as I looked on my son's pc (he's using EaseUS Todo Backup Home) and I must say EaseUS is much easier to understand with the separate image manager that also gives the choice of removing a complete backup (even a specific date or file).

Also much cheaper than Acronis (where I have to buy every year again if I want to use the latest version). EaseUS gives the choice to buy every year a new license or buy a lifetime Free update and upgrade, for the price of a three year license and thereafter no more costs.

I think this is a very good idea for Acronis products as among many friens of me and my son they skipped after a time using Acronis to buy the lifetime version from EaseUS.

Again, sorry for the wrong post. Greetings.

Update. I just looked to save the backup configurations and reuse them but now I have another question of this. I have 5  backup types (1 daily to an internal SSD (for the speed), 1 each for a data and a system backup on internal HDdrives and external USBdrives. So 5 files. If I choose to save my settings is this than 1 for all (5) backups or 1 each for every backup? The same question for using the restore options? Sorry again. This is the only thing I have problems with.

Thank you.

Angel, if you want to keep the settings for all your backup tasks, and you have 5 different backup tasks, then you would need to do the same actions for all 5, i.e. clone settings for each task then remove the original task.

As you are you using ATI 2018, there is another option that you have, which is to go to the ATI GUI Settings page and look near the bottom of the page where the last option is Backup settings transfer and allows you to save all your settings to a zip file, and to import them back again if needed, such as after reinstalling the software.

Thanks for the reply. I discovered the second option you mentioned. It's also handy but can I edit the imported configuration settings (after removing the backup and restoring the settings) without to do the whole configuration i.e. change only the backup drive or map.

I bought last week an external storage enclosure for 4 HDD's and I want to replace the internal backups to the storage enclosure. Is this possible or do I have to redo the whole configuration for each backup?

Greetings.

Once you have a backup task showing in the ATI GUI, then you should be able to modify this if needed to point to a new destination location.

One word of caution, if you are doing this for a task which has already created backup files on another / different destination drive, then I would recommend using the 'Clone settings' option and then modifying the cloned task.

While ATI will allow you to modify the existing task and point at a new destination, it may also want to try to find backup files on the original destination and will give you errors for 'Cannot find volume x' if that original destination is not present and using the same drive letter as before!  Hence cloning the task settings and starting off a new backup sequence to the new destination.

Thank you for your reply. As caused by another problem (all backup sets lock on 27Mb progress) I also can not how to get to the option for clone settings? Momentarily I have none configuration for any backups because the locking I mentioned above here. Do I first need an active backup setting first before I can I see an option for clone settings?

Angel, the Clone settings option are found via the right-click menu for your backup task but this needs to be either a task which has already run / created a backup, or one that has been configured and the Backup Later option taken.  The screen shots below cover these two scenarios:

The options shown reflect that the first menu was for a task that has run whereas the second one has not, hence you cannot do the missing options from the menu / are not relevant at this time.
