Error msg when using Windows BackUp with Acronis installed-Active Protection disabled

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis Version 2018 build 9660 and am running Windows 7 Home Premium

I need to run Windows BackUp to be able to migrate to a new laptop running Windows 10. W10 (as you might already know) has "Windows BackUp and Restore (Windows7)" built in to the operating system which has the ability to read a full backup made from my old W7 machine with Windows BackUp  and automatically decides which programs, files and settings are pertinent and compatible with Windows 10 and can be transferred. I've done this successfully already with my wife's laptop which is NOT running Acronis and it greatly shortened setup time complete with all my desktop icons and folder arrangement/ files, etc.

When I attempt to start and run Windows BackUp on the W7 machine I get this error message: "The task image is corrupt or has been tampered with." JPG attached here. I've already tried disabling "Active Protection" and still get the error msg.

Anyone know what's causing the error and how to fix it? Do I need to completely uninstall Acronis and restart?

David, the error message you are seeing here has nothing to do with Acronis True Image but is a problem with the Windows Task Scheduler that is being used for Windows Backup.

If you search in Google for "task image corrupt tampered 0x80041321" you will find a number of hits for this problem, including:

Microsoft: MS10-092: Vulnerability in Task Scheduler could allow for elevation of privilege

Microsoft: Task image is corrupt or has been tampered with 0x80041321

Please also note that your Acronis Version 2018 build 9660 is very back level and should be updated to build 12510 after you resolve this other issue.

Thanks for the help Steve
I followed your links and found this page: https://appuals.com/the-task-image-is-corrupt-or-has-been-tampered-with…    in a search result and followed the suggestion 1 without result. Suggestion 2, however worked. It involved deleting (after moving and renaming file names with "old" for backup just in case) two files as shown below. I navigated to:
C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsBackup
Then deleted  the files    "AutomaticBackup" and "Windows Backup Monitor"
Then restarted Windows Backup and it started properly and is running now.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE HELP  Steve !!!

BTW, while poking around waiting for a reply I noticed the Acronis build # and updated to 12510 as you suggested.

David, thanks for the feedback and glad to hear that this issue is resolved via the links found on Google search.
