Full Image Backup file size is TWICE the size of imaged drive.

Thread needs solution

Before replying - I have a current support request regarding changing the email in my account. I do not have access to my current email.  The email I requested to change to is jcthewizard@gmail.com, but apparently, I created another account with that address (there are no products there), I did not want to delete the account before talking to someone in support as that may do further damage.  If possible, please reply to this post at jcthewizard@gmail.com

Don't know if that is possible - but thanks for listening!

I just purchased a Seagate 18 TB USB 3.1 drive specifically for storage (Model # STKP1800402), and am in the process of making new backups of computer drives on this device.

My main working system (Win 10 Pro - all updates prior to 11) has a WD 2 TB SSD (WDS200T2B0A - 2 TB SSD).  When I made a full backup of that drive using ATI 2018.  It hung at the end.

So, I rebooted and (1) attempted to delete the 1st file – it would not let me.  The 18 TB drive is fully shared with full access to both Administer and Everyone security accounts.

After determining that I could not delete that file I made a second backup of the drive in the same directory on the storage device using ATI 2018.

This backup appears to have been completed correctly, HOWEVER, the file size is twice as large as the SSD from which it was made!

See screenshots.  Cannot load latest Log file (.gz)

Your help is greatly appreciated!

John, when deleting files you need to use the Clean up versions tool or else turn off Acronis Active Protection before attempting otherwise (not recommended as does not clean up entries for the file(s) held in metadata and internal database).

KB 61844: Acronis True Image 2019, 2020 and 2021: How to delete old backups

For more information, check the actual logs used by the backup task.

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (New Version 2.1.1)

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.
