Hard drive swap process
hello and background first.
1. Dell XPS 8700 running Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit
2. C: is a SSD, D: is 3TB HDD (data drive)
3. current backup is Seagate Dashboard to a USB3.0 slim Seagate HDD
4. Just purchased ATI2018 and a full PC backup is currently running to Acronis Cloud. Default with encryption (10 upstream, i'm dyin' here).
5. after the cloud backup completes, i intend to run a concurrent backup (default without encryption) to the USB HDD
6. lastly, i'm not a tech
now the question. the D: drive has failed a Dell self test and will be replaced. i plan to swap out the D: drive and then restore from the USB HDD (for speed sake, although i do have 250 downstream internet). does this plan sound correct? i have been doing some reading, but not being a tech is hamstringing me a little. thx, ron

thx steve. i was hoping to hear that. since i will do a concurrent backup to the local usb hdd, that's the one i will use to restore from. now if the cloud backup ever finishes. it threw a few errors back to back and appears to have restarted, although cloud usage would indicate that it is about 3/4 done. teething pains for me. thx again, ron
