HDD format BSOD due Acronis

Thread needs solution

When I try to format a HDD, (Microsoft tells me that) my PC bluescreens due to "Acronis Tib Mounter for Backup Archive Explorer.  Uninstalling Acronis should resolve your issue."

Of course I don't want to uninstall Acronis.  Any other advice please?

Edit:  The Microsoft staffperson updated their reply to say not just uninstall, but uninstall then reinstall Acronis.

More details including my minidumps are at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-hardware/watchdogviolation-0x00000133-when-try-to-format-a/80f08c57-862b-4753-a642-c4e53dc264af?messageId=4d4703d8-501c-4216-a27b-b7a711fcde46

(Personally I don't understand minidumps even with BlueScreenView.)

Coyote, it should be fairly easy to isolate any involvement by Acronis programs / services for this issue.

You will need to fully shutdown Active Protection (stop / disable the AAP Service after first turning off AAP via the tray icon if active), then stop all ATI Services and end all Processes, so that there is nothing Acronis related active in the system, then retry the HDD format activity.

See KB 60522: Acronis True Image 2018: Windows services and processes

Great suggestion, thank you very much, Steve!

I'll try that before un/re-installing ATIH.

Tomorrow, when the new WD Black HDD arrives (I sent back the last one--a WD Gold--thinking that it might not happen with a Blacfk).
